Take Advantage of Affiliate Marketing

The powerful and rewarding concept of revenue sharing has been around for quite a while, long before the days of the internet. But the idea of affiliate marketing has taken it to new levels, and become a staple form of online advertising, bringing in revenue for all types of online businesses.

Affiliate marketing really took off big time once Amazon launched its affiliate program. Amazon started off selling books online and offered an affiliate program to drive more traffic to their site and boost sales. The Amazon affiliate program has been responsible for exposing their site to millions worldwide, taking advantage of viral marketing.

Amazon is now operates on a global scale, offering more than books and CD’s. It has become an online departmental store, driven by the power of affiliate marketing.

Online merchants find affiliate marketing highly rewarding due to the fact that it presents little to no risk both for the merchant and the ‘affiliate.’ The way it works is that the affiliate earns a structured commission or fixed amount based on the number of sales they generate for the merchant, either through on-line links on the affiliates website – or through email (newsletters and opt-in lists), blogs, rss feeds, PPC and many other kinds of on-line communication and marketing methods.

A small number of merchants (less than 1%) use a cost-per-click payment system, which simply means that the affiliate earns every time an internet searcher clicks on an advert on their site or email. However, due to fraudsters taking advantage of this method (creating ad-ware, sending spam and creating keyword infested sites) this type of affiliate payment structure is becoming absolute.

But the idea of affiliate marketing has taken it to new levels, and become a staple form of advertising and bringing in business for all types of online businesses.

Google generates millions of dollars daily from its AdWords program, while the hard work is carried out by the affiliates. Some AdSense affiliates are earning in excess of $40,000 monthly. These AdSense high earners drive massive traffic to their sites and are rewarded for their content and targeted traffic.

There are a large number of affiliate networks that act as the middle person to connect merchants (sellers) with affiliates (sales people). Commission Junction has been a key affiliate network for some time now. As the demand for Infoproducts has soared worldwide, a large number of affiliate networks have sprung up. ClickBank and PayDotCom are some of the name that comes into mind.

You can get started as an affiliate marketer for free, but you will only start earning an substantial income once you start learning the marketing part of it. The affiliate part is free; the marketing part takes time and effort to learn and is a continuous learning program. What works today may become useless within a year or two.

Stay motivated and focused, keep on working on your marketing methods. Learn from successful affiliate marketers. Test and tune your marketing before you start pumping large amounts money into it.

The affiliate marketing formula is simple….

Commission (you generate) Marketing Cost (you pay) = Profit (you earn)

As with all earning, you have to pay taxes. As an affiliate marketer you are working for your self, as a self-employed salesperson.
